About me
I have 20 years of experience inside New York City and New Jersey classrooms teaching diverse children and working with Pre-K -12 pre-service teachers, in-service teachers, and administrators. I specialize in the preparation and ongoing learning of teachers for inclusive classrooms, with a concentration on Universal Design for Learning, differentiation, co-teaching, and Backwards Design. I received my doctorate in Teacher Education and Preparation from Montclair State University. I am currently an Assistant Professor at St. Thomas Aquinas College and consult as an inclusion facilitator for the New Jersey Coalition for Inclusive Education.
I have been a featured speaker at MSU’s Early Childhood Autism Institute Conference, the Interdisciplinary Council for Developmental Learning Disorders Annual Conference, the New Jersey Coalition for Inclusive Education Conference, the New Jersey Council for Exceptional Children and have presented my research at the American Educational Research Association (AERA). I helped to develop an inclusive early childhood curriculum for the Ben Samuels Children’s Center at Montclair State University. I also worked as the Director of the RePPrISE Project, a federally funded initiative to increase access to STEM education for students with disabilities.
My most important role is that of parent to two teenagers! As a parent of a child with autism, I am deeply committed to inclusive education and working with administrators, teachers, and parents to foster curriculum, pedagogy, and positive interactions that support the teaching and learning of all students.
