About me
I am a COPAA-trained Special Education Advocate and the parent of two amazing teenagers with Trisomy 21, residing in Northern CA. I have been an inclusive education advocate since my son entered school after being introduced to Inclusive Education via a workshop hosted by the University of San Francisco. I was sold! I have invested the past 11 years in educating myself on inclusive education strategies, systems change, and educational rights. I have won in court, protested on the streets when the District retaliated, and created a petition outing their actions that received 70k signatures and ended the retaliation. In addition to my advocacy, I have a graduate degree in Health Education & Promotion and developing healthy lifestyle programs for those with I/DD is in my pipeline. Defending the rights and human dignity of disabled students is paramount to me and my advocacy. Talk to me if you want to collaborate to address academic education of students with I/DD, inclusive education, systems change, and/or if you interested in becoming part of a collaborative project for the aforementioned. If you are a parent of a student with I/DD and want to chat, vent, collaborate, or add another soldier to your army, I’m here for you. :-)
